Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that Jose Callejon is not for sale and confirmed that the club have rejected offers for the player.

Callejon joined the Italian club from Real Madrid last summer for a transfer fee of £8m and still has four years left on his contract with the club.

The Spaniard was ejected by Benitez from Napoli’s training session on Sunday which led to rumours that all is not right between the manager and the player.

However, the Spanish manager rubbished such rumours and insisted that he has no problems with the striker.

“It was very simple, he was training without intensity, but there was no problem”, the former Liverpool manager was quoted as saying by ITV.

“I wanted to bring him here, he scored 20 goals and I would have liked to have seen him called up to the Spanish team.”

It is also believed that Callejon is seeking a move back to Spain and Atletico Madrid are being touted as a possible destination for the former Real Madrid striker.

Benitez did confirm that Napoli have rejected a number of offers from an unnamed club and insisted that the striker is not for sale.

“A team made us several large offers for him but we rejected them, we don't want to sell him and there is no chance we will.”
