Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has insisted that that team are gaining confidence with their performances in their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Red Devils have won all their games in pre-season under new manager Louis van Gaal, despite the Dutchman introducing a new system of playing three at the back.




The England international feels that the team have grown in confidence with their performances against Roma and Inter Milan.

He also added that the squad are still adapting to the new formation Van Gaal has introduced and feels they are also progressing on the fitness front.
 


"We all felt we could have played better against Roma but conditions weren’t easy”, the 24-year-old told the club’s official site.

“I think we’ve progressed again [against Inter] and are getting used to the system.

“We’re getting fitter and stronger and gaining more confidence and it’s good to have five points out of six."

The midfielder will hope to feature in Manchester United’s next pre-season friendly against European champions Real Madrid on Saturday at the Michigan Stadium.
