Monaco are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over signing Douglas Costa and Alex Teixeira for a fee which could be in excess of €65m.

Both Brazilian talents want a move away from Shakhtar Donetsk due to the political unrest in the Ukraine, which has already forced the club to move their training base to the country's capital of Kyiv, while games will be played at the Arena Lviv, over 600 miles from their Donetsk home.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Costa, but Monaco, with money to spend following the sale of James Rodriguez to Real Madrid, are looking to snap up the attacking midfielder along with his team-mate Teixeira.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Monaco have been in discussions with Shakhtar Donetsk for the last few days, with the principality club prepared to pay in excess of €65m for the pair.

Both players were part of a group who refused to return to the Ukraine recently following a friendly match in France.

They have since been persuaded to return, but are still set on moving away from the Ukrainian champions this summer.

Both Costa and Teixeira were snapped up by Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010, arriving from Gremio and Vasco da Gama respectively.
