Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher feels that Ander Herrera will turn out to be a key player for the club in the future.

Herrera joined the dethroned English champions in June from Athletic Bilbao and made an immediate impact with a Man of the Match performance in their pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy last month.

“He’s a really talented footballer”, Fletcher told the club’s official site.

The Scot is enthused by the enthusiasm and the energy that the Spaniard has brought to Manchester United’s midfield.

He is also impressed by the 24-year-old’s willingness to learn and put instructions into practice on the pitch.

“He has great enthusiasm and great energy in midfield. He always wants the ball and is always looking to make things happen.

“His enthusiasm’s infectious – it’s rubbed off on a few of us already – and he works hard for the team. He wants to learn and listen, he takes on instructions well… and off the pitch he’s a good lad.”

Fletcher has been further impressed by the way the Basque-midfielder has easily gelled with the squad.

“He’s settled in really well and not only with the other Spanish-speaking lads. I think he’s going to be a key player for Manchester United.”
