Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has insisted that he will be looking for a big year this time around after a poor 2013/14 season.

The Argentine had been out of action since December and managed to return to action only recently during his team's pre-season friendlies in the United States.

And his comeback has been nothing less than impressive with the 22-year-old contributing with a brace as his team beat Toronto FC 3-2 in their second friendly on 23rd July.

Lamela insists that building on his form will be important for him, after a disappointing start to his Tottenham career during which time he could not train without issue.

“I am happy with my situation because I had a long injury and now I can train normally”, Lamela told his club's official site.

“The tour went well and I feel good.

“This pre-season is very important for me, for my fitness and I’m hoping for a big year.

“I think I can play better than I did last season and I hope this happens for me and for the Spurs fans. I would love to do well for them.”
