Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has moved to ease injury concerns over striker Daniel Sturridge, who has returned to England with a hamstring injury.

Sturridge played no part in Liverpool's 2-0 friendly win over AC Milan last night, having picked up a hamstring niggle.

And he will not be in action for the final of the International Champions Cup tomorrow, which sees Liverpool lock horns with rivals Manchester United in Miami, with $1m awaiting the winners.

But Rodgers has stressed Sturridge's problem is not serious.

"Dan has flown back to the UK. He wasn't going to be ready for the game on Monday – but there's no concern there, he'll be ready for Borussia Dortmund at the weekend", the Liverpool manager said via his club's site.

"It was just best to get him back early, back to the training ground so he could get some treatment there.

"He had a really, really slight feeling in his hamstring. It's nothing major", Rodgers added.

With the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Sturridge's form and fitness have become even more crucial to Liverpool's success, something which will leave Rodgers hoping his prediction is correct.
