Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that he is set to discuss Ron Vlaar’s future, but amid transfer speculation said that the Dutchman loves the club.

Vlaar’s future at Villa has faced a barrage of speculation since last week as Serie A clubs Lazio and Juventus were strongly linked with making a move for the former Feyenoord man.

His performances in the World Cup have made him a hot property in the market and the Italian sides have both been linked with preparing a bid.

Aston Villa are digging their heels and are reluctant to part with the Dutch World Cup hero. However, Vlaar has just one year left on his contract at Villa Park

Lambert has confirmed that he will hold talks with Vlaar in the next few days, but said that the Dutchman loves the club.

He also stressed though that the 29-year-old still has one year left on his contract with the Villans.

"Ron's got another year still to go on his contract, it's not as if he's at the end of it", Lambert was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Once we get back I'll sit with him, we'll have a bit more time, but he loves it at Villa, that's well known."
