Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the Bavarians have fielded enquiries from clubs in England and Italy about winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Switzerland international has been a wanted man this summer, having signalled he is open to leaving the Allianz Arena at the end of last term, bemoaning being overlooked for the club's biggest games and revealing he enjoyed a better relationship with Pep Guardiola's predecessor as coach, Jupp Heynckes.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Shaqiri, along with Juventus, Inter and Monaco.

And Rummenigge has conceded the former FC Basel man has attracted attention from interested clubs this summer.

"We have had enquiries from several clubs in England and Italy", Rummenigge said via his club's site.

"I've never had a conversation [about selling him] because we are convinced that he will have a good career with us."

However, the CEO added a caveat – that Shaqiri must stay in shape to make himself available for Guardiola, who rates his talents.

"He has to stay fit, the coach is convinced about him."

Shaqiri was in action at this summer's World Cup with Switzerland, further enhancing his reputation with a well-taken hat-trick against Honduras.
