Paris Saint-Germain are planning to rekindle their interest in Chelsea's Andre Schurrle and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney if Edinson Cavani leave the club, according to Le Parisien.

Cavani's future at the Parc des Princes has continued to be a source of much debate, with the Uruguayan striker having expressed his unhappiness last term at being moved out of a central position to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He has attempted to play down talk he is poised to leave PSG, but departure talk has not gone away and the French champions have already pondered what they might do if he moves on.

A departure for Cavani would bring Schurrle and Rooney to the fore, with both being players PSG rate highly.

Should Cavani leave, that would instantly lead to PSG examining whether Schurrle or Rooney could be secured as his replacement.

However, Chelsea and Manchester United look unlikely to easily allow their stars to leave.

Rooney is in the running to become the new Manchester United captain and has seen his importance reaffirmed under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Schurrle meanwhile got to grips with the Premier League last term and is highly rated by Jose Mourinho.
