Bulgarian winger Aleksandar Tonev is just one step away from joining Scottish champions Celtic.

Tonev is heading to Paradise on a season-long loan deal from English Premier League side Aston Villa, as he looks to relaunch his career with the regular first team football that eluded him in the Midlands.

According to STV, Tonev has now undergone a medical with Ronny Deila's men and is set to link up with the Bhoys.

The 24-year-old had been chased by Celtic during Neil Lennon's time in charge at Paradise, when he turned out for Polish side Lech Poznan.

Tonev struggled for regular first team football at Villa Park last term, but did manage 20 appearances in all competitions for Paul Lambert's men.
