Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are just one step away from completing the signing of former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The Denmark international has been without a club since being released by Arsenal at the end of last season, the Gunners making no attempt to extend an expiring contract.

Bendtner has been linked with a number of sides, however it now appears he will bounce back into the game in the Bundesliga.

According to German daily Die Welt, Wolfsburg are close to snapping up the striker on a free transfer.

The Wolves have been looking to bolster their firepower and lost out to Juventus in the race for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata earlier this summer.

Bendtner was on the fringes at Arsenal last season but did still manage to clock up nine appearances in the Premier League, scoring twice.

The striker is hoping for regular first team football at his new club.
