Atletico Madrid have moved to quash speculation that they are poised to sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund.

Reus has been linked with the Spanish champions, who are still aiming to add to their squad this summer as they look to defend their La Liga crown in 2014/15.

And talk a deal was done quickly spread when Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann suggested Reus was on his way to the Vicente Calderon and expressed his surprise.

Hamann posted: "I can't believe Reus is choosing to go to Atletico."

However, the Spanish side have come out to deny the transfer talk, with CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin telling TVE: "Reus has never been on the hit list at Atletico and his profile does not fit into the type of players needed for the team."
