Leeds United boss David Hockaday has reflected upon his side's 2-0 home defeat against Brighton last night and explained he has no regrets chasing the game when 1-0 behind.

Sami Hyypia's Brighton took the lead after just five minutes and had chances to extend their advantage during a first half they dominated at Elland Road.

However, Leeds went in 1-0 behind at the break, something which Hockaday admits was a relief given how dominant the Seagulls had been.

"I thought first half they caught us cold, they played brave", he told LUTV.

"We didn't press together and when we got the ball we just kept on giving it away. That's a recipe for disaster.

"I was actually happy at 1-0."

Brighton extended their advantage in the second half, but had to wait until the 84th minute to do so, as Leeds chased an equaliser. And that approach is not something Hockaday regrets, even if he admits it left the hosts open to a sucker punch.

"Second half, we went brave, we went man for man basically. That was more like it second half and we created a great chance. If we put that away, 1-1, and then maybe we go on.

"I'd rather go down 2-0 and really pushing for it than settle for 1-0, so we left ourselves a little bit exposed at times."
