Everton left-back Leighton Baines believes that new signing Christian Atsu will be motivated to do well in the Premier League this year.

Having signed for Chelsea in 2013, the 22-year-old was sent on loan to Dutch outfit Vitesse, where he managed a total of 28 league appearances last term, scoring five goals.

The wideman will have the chance to enjoy English football for the first time this year as he teams up with Baines and his team-mates at Goodison Park.

And the 29-year-old is visibly excited about the prospect and believes that Atsu will prosper in the Premier League.

"We have only done a couple of sessions, but he looks sharp and a good addition to the squad", Baines told his club's official site.

"Obviously the manager wanted to bring in a new player for that position and I think he was the one we seemed to be after for a little bit.

"It's a good opportunity for him and I'm sure he's motivated to do well in the Premier League and establish himself."

Everton will look for their first win of the season when they take on Arsenal at home on Saturday.
