Netherlands international Leroy Fer has underlined the importance of continuing to play in the Premier League for his ambitions with the Oranje.

Fer's Norwich City suffered the pain of relegation from England's top flight last term, condemning the Dutch international to Championship football.

But Fer will avoid the fate as he is in the process of completing a switch to London club QPR. And the midfielder is delighted, feeling Premier League football is essential.

"I find continuing to play in the Premier League to be very important", he told the Algemeen Dagblad.

"I have not talked to the [national team] coach, but Danny Blind [the assistant coach to Guus Hiddink] said that the Premier League is a good stage on which to keep an eye on me."
