Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has urged the Bavarians to snap up Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.

Khedira has just one year left to run on his contract at the Bernabeu and has so far resisted putting pen to paper on an extension.

The Germany international already appears to be surplus to requirements for the European champions this term, with Toni Kroos having arrived from Bayern Munich, while James Rodriguez has landed from Monaco.

Khedira has been linked with English outfit Arsenal and Beckenbauer believes any club would be lucky to have the former Stuttgart man, including his own side Bayern Munich.

"Khedira fits into any team", the legendary German told Sport Bild.

"He would fit in even very well. He plays incredibly strongly in the 6 role.

"Either with [Bastian] Schweinsteiger or [Philipp] Lahm, he would be perfect."

Bayern Munich currently have two midfielders out injured, with Schweinsteiger out for a month, while Javi Martinez will miss the rest of the year. Thiago Alcantara has also been injury plagued since arriving in Germany.
