AC Milan are trying to sign Colombian striker Jackson Martinez from FC Porto as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, and have made contact with the Portuguese side.

Balotelli is on his way to Liverpool this summer after the Reds agreed a €20m transfer fee with Milan yesterday.

With the imminent departure of Balotelli, the Rossoneri are in the market to sign a top class forward as a replacement for the 24-year-old.

Martinez, who has been linked with a move away from Porto this summer, has three years left on his contract with the Portuguese club.

With the transfer window on its home stretch Milan are desperate to sign a striker and are eyeing a deal for the prolific Colombian, who scored 29 goals in all competitions last term.

The Rossoneri have already established contact with Porto over the transfer of Martinez, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Milan believe that a transfer fee of around €25m to €30m might convince Porto to sanction the Colombian’s sale this month.

There was talk of Martinez signing a new contract with the Portuguese outfit last month, but a chance to join one of the heavyweights of European football could tempt the Colombian.
