Italian Serie B side Trapani Calcio are bidding to snap up Palermo full-back-cum-winger Ignacio Lores Varela, who has been on the radar at Leeds United.

Varela, a former Uruguay Under-20 international, could be on the move from Palermo this summer and a number of clubs have been linked with bidding for the 23-year-old.

Leeds are one of the sides to have been on Varela's tail, with the Whites having raided the Italian market extensively this summer.

But Trapani are pushing hard to secure the Palermo man to aid their promotion push in Serie B.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Trapani have made contact over signing Varela and are hoping to do a deal.

Varela spent time on loan at Bari last term and appears to be surplus to requirements at Palermo.

He joined the Sardinian club in 2011 from Defensor Sporting, but has spent the majority of his time at the side out on loan spells in an effort to further his development.
