Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Mario Balotelli from AC Milan.

The Reds had a €20m bid for Balotelli accepted by Milan last week and moved quickly to agree personal terms with the striker, along with putting him through a medical.

Now Balotelli has penned a contract with Liverpool and officially sealed a return to the Premier League, having left England in 2013 to swap Manchester City for Milan.

Liverpool announced: "Liverpool can confirm they have completed the signing of Italy striker Mario Balotelli, subject to registration."

The striker has been quick to express his delight, saying: "I'm very happy. We've been talking about coming here and now I'm happy to be here.

"Liverpool are one of the best teams here in England and the football is very good here. It's a great team with young players, and that's why I came here."

Balotelli enjoyed a positive impact at Milan, scoring 12 goals in his first 13 Serie A matches for the Rossoneri.

However, he saw his performances dip last season and was made available for transfer by the Italian giants earlier this summer.

Now Balotelli will continue his career at Liverpool, who are looking to replace the 31 Premier League goals scored by Luis Suarez, now at Barcelona, last season.
