Bundesliga outfit Hamburg are eyeing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Lewis Holtby.

The German, who joined Spurs from Schalke in January last year, still has four years left to run on his current deal.

After falling out of favour with both former Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood, Holtby spent the latter half of last season on loan to Fulham, but couldn’t prevent the Cottagers’ relegation from the Premier League.

Former Tottenham man Rafael van der Vaart is believed to be on his way out of Hamburg, therefore the German outfit are keen to sign a replacement for the Dutchman in the last week of the transfer window.

And Hamburg are eyeing a deal for Holtby and stand ready to bring him back to Germany this summer, according to the Hamburger Abendblatt.
