Divock Origi believes he must show he belongs at Liverpool through his performances with Lille this season.

Liverpool signed Origi from Lille earlier this summer, but as part of the deal, the Belgium international was instantly loaned back to the French club for the current campaign.

Origi will not link up with Liverpool until the summer of 2015, but he is determined to use his remaining year at Lille to prove he is deserving of his move to Anfield.

"It's an honour to have signed for such a big club", he told Liverpool's site.

"The Premier League suits me best. And Liverpool proposed me a real sporting project. I didn't hesitate.

"I still have work to do. This season will be very important for my personal development.

"I want to show more of what I can do on the pitch, and to take on more responsibility. I think that's a rite of passage you have to undergo before you join a big club. That's a real challenge for this season."

Origi turned out in the World Cup for Belgium this summer, but only managed five goals in 30 Ligue 1 games for Lille last term.
