Liverpool have rejected an offer from AC Milan for forward Fabio Borini.

The former Roma man popped onto Milan's radar as a potential replacement for Mario Balotelli, with coach Filippo Inzaghi a firm fan of his talents.

The Rossoneri contacted Liverpool to ask about taking Borini on a season-long loan deal.

But according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Liverpool have told Milan they are not willing to entertain the proposal.

Liverpool have already accepted an offer from Sunderland for Borini, but the forward is reluctant to return to the Stadium of Light, where he spent last term on loan.
