Louis van Gaal has urged the Manchester United fans to keep faith in him and said that the rebuilding process will take time.

The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss at the hands of League One side MK Dons at Stadium MK in a League Cup second round match last night.

Van Gaal, who is still waiting for his first win as the Manchester United manager in a competitive fixture, asked the fans to keep faith in his philosophy.

“It’s difficult for the fans, I know that, but they have to believe in our philosophy”, Van Gaal told MUTV.

The Dutchman said that judging his team’s performance so early in the season is unfair and he will require time to implement his style at the club.

“At the end, they can judge, but not now. I hope they shall maintain their confidence in the club and in our philosophy because that philosophy takes time."

And Van Gaal warned that it may take up to a year for him to completely fix the mess at Old Trafford and asked the fans to keep supporting the team through difficult times.

“We are building up a team which you can’t make in one month, even one year.”

Van Gaal will hope that the Argentine duo of Marcos Rojo and Angel di Maria will inject much-needed enthusiasm in the Manchester United line-up when they next take on Burnley this Saturday, in a Premier League fixture.
