Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that his new signing Mario Balotelli will be available for Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Reds stumbled at the Etihad Stadium on Monday when they lost the Premier League game 3-1 to last season’s champions Manchester City.

However, the former Watford boss provided some good news to the Reds fans when he confirmed that the Italian striker will be fit for the trip to London this weekend, when Liverpool take on Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs.

"I think by the weekend [he’ll be ready to feature]”, Rodgers told the club’s official site, speaking about new £16m man Balotelli.

"He's been into pre-season and he's played three 45-minute games. He might not be up to full match speed, but he's looking fit.”

The Northern Irishman said that the medical team at Liverpool have undertaken a thorough review of the 24-year-old’s fitness and have declared him fit to play this Sunday.

"We've done some analysis on him", Rodgers explained.

"The medical and sports science team have worked with him already and he's in very, very good condition.

"He's in to work and he'll be available for the squad for the weekend."
