FC Metz have signed Mali international Modibo Maiga on a season-long loan deal from West Ham.

The 26-year-old completed the move to the Ligue 1 outfit yesterday and is expected to make his debut against Lyon on Sunday.

Maiga joined the Hammers from another French outfit, Sochaux, in 2012 and spent the latter half of last season on loan to Queens Park Rangers.

West Ham have signed the likes of Mauro Zarate, Enner Valencia this summer and with the presence of Carlton Cole and the injured Andy Carroll in the squad, the 26-year-old was expected to receive very limited opportunities at the club this season.

Therefore, Maiga has accepted a loan move back to France and Metz have the option of making the move permanent next summer.
