Nikola Zigic’s agent has claimed that Arsene Wenger wants the Serbian striker at Arsenal this summer.

After Olivier Giroud suffered an ankle injury against Everton in a 2-2 draw on Saturday, Wenger has been sweating on his attacking options.

It was suggested earlier today that the Frenchman will trust his existing attacking players and resist signing a striker in the last few days of the transfer window.

However, Zigic’s agent, Milan Calasan, has claimed that Wenger called him earlier this week and explained the Frenchman wants his client at Arsenal this season.

“It is true”, Calasan told Sport.

“Wenger called me on Tuesday afternoon and told me that he wants to bring Zigic to Arsenal.

“It is clear that you cannot reject an offer like that. But Zigic is the one who must decide. He must say what he wants.”

The agent further added that Arsenal are offering a one-year contract, with an option of another year, to the 34-year-old striker.

“But Wenger was clear, he is offering a contract until the end of the season with the option for another 12 months.”

Calasan also said that Zigic, who left Birmingham City this summer after his contract expired, is also reviewing offers from other clubs.

“I know that Arsenal are in a hurry, but Nikola also has offers from Turkey and Switzerland.”
