West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is aiming to sign "one quality player" before the transfer window slams shut, but cannot envisage any players leaving the club.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in several fresh faces as Allardyce grapples with the club's demand for more attractive football this season.

The former Bolton manager, who has a reputation as a wheeler and dealer in the transfer market, is not done yet though and is eyeing a further addition.

"We have the budget for one quality player and that's a possibility before the window shuts", he told a press conference this morning.

"I can't see anyone going the other way at the moment. Then we have an international window and that's good for us with the injury list", he added.

Looking ahead to West Ham's weekend clash with Southampton, Allardyce is wary of the Saints, who he watched lock horns with Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season and was impressed.

"With a new manager Southampton will have players who want to impress him.

"Having watched the Liverpool game they put up a good performance and then got a draw at home. We need a little more consistency in front of goal and we'll be fine."

West Ham lost their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur, but bounced back to beat Crystal Palace last weekend.
