AC Milan have ruled out selling Nigel de Jong, amid speculation that Manchester United want to grab the Dutchman before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is a firm fan of De Jong, a player he worked with when in charge of the Netherlands at this summer's World Cup.

The tough-tackling midfielder is also packed with Premier League experience, having played for Manchester City before heading to the Rossoneri.

However, according to Sky Italia, AC Milan are not prepared to consider parting with De Jong before the window slams shut.

Coach Filippo Inzaghi is keen to keep hold of the 29-year-old, who he views as a key man.
