Liverpool have sent winger Oussama Assaidi on loan to Stoke City for the rest of the season.

The winger spent last term on loan at the Britannia Stadium and Stoke were keen to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.

However, no agreement could be reached between the two clubs and Stoke have made do with another loan switch.

The Potters will pay £1m to enjoy Assaidi's services for the season.

Stoke are firm fans of the former Heerenveen winger and boss Mark Hughes explained to Sky Sports he was "delighted to get it over the line in the end".
