Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has declared himself pleased with his conduct on transfer deadline day, amid madness over whether he would sign for QPR or Sunderland.

The Reds accepted a bid from Sunderland for Borini earlier in the window and it had appeared he might end up at the Stadium of Light with his options receding.

But instead the forward headed for talks with QPR after Liverpool accepted an offer from Harry Redknapp's men.

However, as the transfer deadline clock ticked down, Borini could find no agreement on personal terms with QPR, the London side stating his demands were out of their reach.

Borini has now stayed at Liverpool and has been quick to express his satisfaction at the way he handled proceedings.

"Finally the madness is finished! I protected the MAN and the player that I am today taking all the responsibility of the situation and for people who didn't want it and I'm VERY happy with myself to have taken such an important decision!", he said via Twitter.

It remains to be seen how much playing time Borini will be granted at Liverpool by Brendan Rodgers this season.
