Javier Hernandez is adamant that he will fight for a regular place in Real Madrid's team.

The 26-year-old joined the Spanish La Liga outfit from Manchester United at the weekend on loan, with his contract containing an option to buy at €22m.

"I don't work, so that I then end up sitting on the bench", he was quoted as saying by Spanish daily Marca.

"When I get the chance I want to grab it.

Hernandez was declared surplus to requirements by new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal, who bolstered his attack with Real Madrid's Angel di Maria and Monaco's Radamel Falcao during the transfer window.

And although the Mexican striker has been welcomed with open arms at his new club, he will face fierce competition for a regular starting spot from French international Karim Benzema, who has entered his fifth year with the Galaticos.

With Real Madrid saying goodbye to Benzema's back-up Alvaro Morata, who signed for Juventus this summer, Hernandez will have to work hard to convince his new manager Carlo Ancelotti that he is the right man to replace the Frenchman in the starting eleven.

Hernandez joined Manchester United from Liga MX outfit Guadalajara in 2010 and made 102 appearances, scoring 37 times.
