Mesut Ozil will miss out on Germany's friendly against Argentina on Wednesday, following an ankle injury.

The 25-year-old did not participate in the Nationalmannschaft's training session today, after picking up a knock to his ankle in Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Leicester in the English Premier League at the weekend, but could feature in the European qualifying match against Scotland on Sunday.

"We will work towards having him playing again on Sunday", Germany's general manager Oliver Bierhoff said via Kicker.

"Wednesday doesn't look good though."

In a repeat of this year's World Cup final fixture, Germany will face Argentina on home turf, with both countries set to make extensive changes to their teams.

Whilst Argentina will be missing Lionel Messi due to injury, the Germans will be without Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker and Miroslav Klose, who all made a valuable contribution towards their country's World Cup win and retired after Brazil 2014.
