Monaco fans are fuming after their club sold James Rodriguez to Real Madrid and loaned Radamel Falcao to Manchester United, insisting they feel betrayed and misled into buying season tickets.

The principality side sold Rodriguez to Real Madrid for €75m after the Colombian had shone at the World Cup, realising a profit of €30m on the €45m spent to sign him from FC Porto last year.

Falcao also headed out of the Stade Louis II exit door last night, joining Manchester United on a season-long loan deal which will cost the English club €10m. Manchester United can sign Falcao next summer for €55m if they wish.

The departure of the duo has left fans fuming, with some feeling duped into buying season tickets to watch Monaco this term.

Supporters on Planet ASM said in a statement: "Sold down the river all summer with encouraging slogans and promising signs, on which James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao appear to carry the future of the club from the Rock to the summit, fans today feel betrayed; betrayed because they have swallowed the club's promises, betrayed because they have accepted the big rise of season tickets at the Stade Louis II."

And they urged unhappy fans to contact the club to demand a refund, or at the very least to pay the season ticket price for last term, rather than this season, which has been subject to a hefty pay rise.

"So if you want, ask for a refund of your season ticket or of the enormous price increase in comparison to last season!"
