Newcastle United new boy Ayoze Perez has thanked the people around him at the club for making his transition process easy.

The 21-year-old became manager Alan Pardew's first signing this summer, joining from Spanish second division side Tenerife on a long-term contract, despite interest from Real Madrid.

And within the first few months at St James' Park, Perez has become content with the surroundings at the club, thanking his senior team-mates for helping him with the process of settling down.

"In the very short time I've been here, I feel rather content", Perez told his club's official site.

"I'm settling in quite well and the people around me have made that journey easier by supporting me. I'm very happy to be here.

"When you go to a new place and you don't speak the local language, it's always very important to have support around you from various people."

Magpies skipper Fabricio Coloccini received a special mention, as the Spain Under-21 thanked him for his support during his initial days at the club.

"Colo has been very supportive because we share the same language, so that's been great."
