Benfica are pushing hard to complete the signing of striker Jonas amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

The Premier League pair have both been linked with the former Valencia star, but Benfica are confident they can seal a deal for Jonas, potentially as soon as tomorrow.

The Brazilian is a free agent and as such able to move outside the transfer window system.

According to Portuguese daily O Jogo, the player's brother will travel to Lisbon tomorrow for a meeting with Benfica, at which the Primeira Liga side will put forward a two-year contract offer.

Jonas is thought to be keen to turn out for Benfica, though there is still some distance between player and club in terms of a potential salary.

The hitman started his career at Guarani before heading for Brazilian giants Santos.
