Frederik Sorensen has lifted the lid on his failed move from Juventus to Leeds United, explaining he had all but agreed the switch and was due to turn out for the Whites in a Championship game on the following Saturday.

Leeds agreed a loan fee of around €380,000 with Juventus in order to snap up Sorensen for the season, while they also negotiated a purchase option set at €3.5m should he impress at Elland Road.

However, as Sorensen jetted into England to seal the deal, things changed, with the Dane unwilling to consent to alterations in the contract, leading him to back out.

Sorensen told Bold: "We agreed on a contract, but things changed slightly compared to what we had agreed.

"Those were some changes which I wasn't able to accept and then you just have to say 'thank you for the offer'but no'."

And the defender, who turned out for Bologna in Serie A last term, found the situation to be "strange", especially as he had been pencilled in for a quick-fire Leeds debut.

"It was a strange situation because I should have played a match for Leeds on the Saturday already, but when the parties can not agree there is no reason to pretend everything is alright."

For Sorensen, who has now left behind the Leeds debacle by joining Hellas Verona, a move to Elland Road would have been a "good option".

"I would have liked to have seen a different league, but after my season at Bologna, where I had been injured, I didn't have the best hand of cards.

"Leeds was a good option, but that was not the [right] stop."
