AC Milan custodian Diego Lopez believes that striker Fernando Torres will prove to be more useful for his team than the recently departed Mario Balotelli.

The Spanish striker joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal this summer as a replacement for Balotelli, who left for Liverpool.

Speaking about his new team-mate, Lopez added that Torres is a world-class striker with a lot of experience and will do well for his new team.

"Fernando Torres is a very important signing for Milan", Lopez told Milan Channel.

"He has done some important things in his career, his job is to score goals.

"He is an important player, with experience, he is quick and very strong."

While comparing Torres and Balotelli, Lopez added: "Balotelli? Torres will be more useful as he has shown the characteristics needed to win,"

Having started his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid, Torres moved to England to join Liverpool in 2007.

He joined Chelsea in 2011 for a fee of £50m and spent the next three and half seasons at Stamford Bridge scoring 45 goals in 172 appearances.
