Former Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino has quickly returned to the game by taking charge at Serie B side Catania Calcio.

Sannino left Watford recently despite a strong start to the season from the Hornets. He was instantly linked with taking over at Leeds United, who sacked David Hockaday following three defeats in their opening four Championship games.

The Italian remains in the betting to take over at Leeds, now 20/1, but is all but certainly out of the race after taking charge of Catania.

The Serie B side said in a statement: "Catania Calcio announces that it has relieved first team coach Maurizio Pellegrino, who has taken up the position of head of youth.

"The technical management of the team will now be headed by Giuseppe Sannino."
