Serie A giants Roma have rewarded Gervinho for his fine performances last term by handing him a new contract.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Giallorossi from English side Arsenal last summer, with the Italian outfit splashing out €8m on the forward.

Roma announced: "Roma announces that it has signed an agreement with the footballer Gervais Yao Kouassi (Gervinho) for an extension to the contract now in force, whose nature was due to expire on 30th June 2017.

"The new agreement is a four-year term, expiring on 30th June 2018."

Gervinho made 33 appearances, scoring nine goals, in Serie A for Roma last term as he helped the side finish second behind Juventus.
