Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is set to undergo surgery again after injuring his thigh in his side’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart on Saturday.

The German international, who only recently returned to action following a 20-month absence with a cruciate knee ligament injury, limped off the pitch after 43 minutes of the contest at the Allianz Arena.

It was initially thought that Badstuber had strained his thigh, but further tests yesterday revealed that the 25-year-old suffered a partial tear of a ligament in his left thigh and will require an operation to repair the damage.

And the centre-back, who explained he was disappointed after suffering yet another injury setback, however insisted he will “not give up”.

"I will come back and carry on from where I had got back to after my long injury absence", Badstuber told Bayern Munich’s official site.

"Of course I'm very disappointed right now.

"But I'm now used to it and I know how to deal with such situations. I will not give up."

Badstuber, who has a further three years left on his present contract with Bayern Munich, had started all three of the club’s Bundesliga matches this season.
