Romelu Lukaku has insisted that Everton’s 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday was far more important than his maiden goal of the campaign.

The Belgian international, who joined the Toffees from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, opened his account for the season after just two minutes of the encounter at the Hawthorns.

Lukaku’s compatriot Kevin Mirallas then doubled his side’s advantage in the second-half as Everton went on to claim their first Premier League win of the season.

It was also the first time that Everton managed to keep a clean sheet this season, and Lukaku lauded the Merseyside club’s overall performance against the Baggies.

"It was a nice goal but the win is the most important thing. We wanted to win so badly”, the striker told the club’s official site.
