Manchester City defender Martín Demichelis believes that their Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich on Wednesday is the best way to see what level that they are at presently.

The German giants are the favourites, not only for the match but also frontrunners for the tournament, and the 33-year-old believes the match will be important to prove where the Citizens stand at this point in time.

He however is confident about the game being played evenly, with both teams having similar qualities on display and both being good in possession.

"Playing Bayern now is the best way of being able to see the level that we're at", the Argentine was quoted as saying by UEFA's official site.

"Bayern are as usual one of the favourites to win the competition and we’ll see on Wednesday where we are and what we still have to improve upon.

"I’m expecting an even game between two teams that have similar qualities.

"Both are good in possession, both want to play attacking football and don’t sit back. I’m very excited for the game."

Manuel Pellegrini's team haven't had a particularly impressive start to their domestic season, having won only two of their first four Premier League matches and are currently placed fifth in the league with seven points.
