Leeds United are not about to appoint former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella as their new boss and will make no appointment this week.

The Whites have been linked with a number of potential candidates as they search for a successor to David Hockaday, with Sabella, Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink all being mooted as contenders for the post.

At present academy chief Neil Redfearn is filling in and owner Massimo Cellino is in no rush to pull the trigger on a permanent appointment.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Redfearn will remain in charge through this week, with Leeds having no intention of appointing a new boss this week.

Cellino is at present happy to leave the role in Redfearn's hands and will take his time appointing a permanent boss.

Cellino pulled a rabbit out of the hat in appointing Hockaday earlier this summer, who arrived at Elland Road with only prior managerial experience at non-league outfit Forest Green Rovers.

Hockaday struggled though, losing three of the first four Championship games of the season and paying with his job, despite being popular with the club's players.
