Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn expects form to go out of the window when his side take on Huddersfield Town in a Yorkshire derby on Saturday.

Redfearn, who has been keeping the manager's seat warm at Elland Road following the sacking of David Hockaday, has presided over a run of two wins and one draw in his three games in charge, the latest coming on Tuesday night in the form of a 3-1 win away at Bournemouth.

Saturday will see Redfearn come up against a familiar face following the appointment of former Charlton boss Chris Powell at Huddersfield.

And Redfearn is wary of the boost that will deliver Huddersfield.

"I played with Chris at Charlton Athletic and he was an apprentice at [Crystal] Palace when I played", the Leeds boss told a press conference.

"A great guy, nice kid, good footballer, great player. He's got a lot of football knowledge and has good people with him.

"He'll come and he understands this division, he understands the level.

"You always get a lift when you get as new manager coming in and I'm sure with it being a Yorkshire derby on Saturday form will go out of the window, because it's about the day and competing on the day.

"It will be a tough game, a really tough game. We've just got to make sure that we're ready", Redfearn added.

The interim boss also confirmed that he expects to be in charge for the Huddersfield clash despite doing the job on a day by day basis.

In the same fixture last term, Leeds ran out comprehensive 5-1 winners over Huddersfield.
