AC Milan legend Dejan Savicevic believes that striker Stephan El Shaarawy is the future of the club and will be at his best once he is fit.

The 21-year-old has had a history of injuries and missed most part of last season as a result.

He has managed a single appearance for the Rossoneri this season, but was injured during international duty and missed the match against Parma last week.

The Italian though took part in his team's training session yesterday and is expected to be available for selection soon.

Savicevic, who played for the Italian giants between 1992 and 1998, therefore hopes that his former team will not run out of patience as a result of El Shaarawy's injuries and will give him time to recover full fitness, as he believes that the youngster is a player for the future at the San Siro.

"Stephan El Shaarawy had some injury problems last season and that has slowed down his progress at Milan", the scorer of 20 league goals for AC Milan told the club's official site.

"But he is the future of the club and I hope that the club can wait for him and we will see him score like two years ago."

Since joining AC Milan in 2011, El Shaarawy has played a total of 84 matches for the Rossoneri, scoring 24 goals.
