Sturm Graz boss Darko Milanic has admitted he is flattered to be linked with the vacant job at Leeds United, however cautioned that rumours do not always come true.

The Slovenian tactician is mooted to be a serious contender to take over at Leeds, with the Championship club impressed by his work in recent years, which includes four Slovenian titles won with NK Maribor before he headed to Austria last year.

Being linked with Leeds is a feather in the 46-year-old's cap, but he is keen to stress that he has been linked with a whole host of clubs in different parts of the world over the last year, and is still at Sturm Graz.

"It's nice that you're spoken of in connection with a club of such tradition", Milanic was quoted as saying by the Kleine Zeitung.

"This is positive, pleasant stress for me. This gives me confidence.

"But I can say that there has never been a concrete enquiry for me."

And Milanic drew comparisons with other rumours of a move elsewhere which have been floated over the last 12 months.

"Yes, I've been placed in China, in Eastern Europe, in Western Europe, but I'm still here", he smiled.

Were Leeds to agree a deal for Milanic, Stum Graz would find a significant compensation sum flowing into their coffers, with the Slovenian boss under contract at the club until the summer of 2016.
