Ronny Deila believes Celtic’s 2-2 draw against Red Bull Salzburg in their Europa League opener last night was a “good” result for his side.

The Scottish champions took a 14th-minute lead through Wakaso Mubarak at the Red Bull Arena, but the Austrian outfit made it 1-1 when Alan found the back of the net in the 36th minute.

Scott Brown gave Celtic the advantage again on the hour mark only for Soriano to equalise 18 minutes later.

And Deila, who hailed his side’s performance, however felt Red Bull Salzburg deserved the draw for their efforts.

The manager then went on to take special mention of Celtic custodian Craig Gordon, who made a string of fine saves to help his side return home with a point.

“It was a good result against a very good team. They are a difficult team to play against with their intensity and quick, fit players”, Deila told his club’s official site.

“We worked much better as a team tonight and stood the distance better over the 90 minutes, but they deserved the draw in the end.

“They had chances but we had a fantastic goalkeeper tonight. That’s important but I’m pleased with the point and happy with the performance.”

Celtic are currently second in Group D, following Dinamo Zagreb’s 5-1 win over Astra in the group’s other game last night.
