Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says that his team's win at Swansea was not straight forward, even though the hosts were reduced to ten men in the first half.

The Swans started the game strongly, but lost key man Wilfried Bony in the 38th minute when the striker received his second yellow card for a bad foul, being sent off.

"It was difficult. We didn't play well in first 20 minutes", the Saints boss was quoted as saying after the match by the BBC. "Swansea played well and we lost a lot of balls."

But Southampton took advantage of having one more player on the pitch and dominated the second half, with Victor Wanyama netting his first ever goal for the club and the game ending 1-0 in their favour.

And despite his team's initial difficulties in taking charge of the match, Koeman is happy with the result.

"It was complicated, but finally the result counts and it is a very good win", the manager explained after the game.

"I don't like to talk about yellow and red cards. After, when it was ten v eleven it was more easy for us. We didn't create a lot but we scored the goal."

Southampton have now registered three league victories in a row, having beaten Newcastle 4-0 and West Ham 3-1 in previous weeks. They are in second place with ten points and two points behind Chelsea, who are travelling to the Etihad Stadium tomorrow to face Manchester City.
