West Ham United forward Diafra Sakho believes his side can do well in the Premier League if they continue to put in displays similar to that produced against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Hammers, who lost both their league fixtures against Liverpool last season, raced to a 2-0 lead by the seventh minute at Upton Park on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Winston Reid and Sakho.

Although Raheem Sterling pulled one back for the visitors midway through the first-half, West Ham made sure of the full three points when substitute Morgan Amalfitano found the back of the net in the dying moments of the game.

And Sakho, who feels his side thoroughly deserved the 3-1 victory, wants West Ham to produce similar sparkling displays throughout the course of the season.

"We're delighted, we worked all week long for that, to give [a performance] at home", the Senegalese international told his club’s official site.

"We've done that on Saturday and we're pleased.

"We deserved it. On the whole, we met the manager's expectations and those of the staff.

“And if we continue to play like that, work together, united as a group, we'll do good things in the Premier League."

West Ham, who are currently eighth in the Premier League with seven points from five games, signed Sakho from French side Metz in the summer.
