Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Bryan Oviedo and Arouna Kone could return to first-team action in the Toffees’ League Cup clash against Swansea City tonight.

Oviedo has been out of action since breaking his leg during an FA Cup game against Stevenage in January.

The Costa Rica international, who had undergo surgery, missed the 2014 World Cup due to the injury.

On the other hand, Kone is set to feature in his first senior match since picking up a serious knee injury against Hull City last October.

And Martinez, who admitted that Kone is available for selection against the Swans, however does not want the striker to be rushed back into action.

“We’ve got really good news about Bryan Oviedo being in the squad for the first time since his broken leg”, the Spaniard told his club’s official site.

“Arouna is available for selection, even though we need to be cautious with him. He is in a situation where he has been training with the group now for a while and I do think that he is ready for eleven-a-side.

“He’s played a game for the Under-21s last week, so he is available for selection.”

After tonight’s League Cup encounter at the Liberty Stadium, Everton will be up against their fierce local rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
